“Grown 20 miles from here.”
That’s the best way to get them. Over here, they’re shipped in while their still not ripe and they are never as good as freshly picked. I have a hard time finding a decent peach or nectarine or just about any fruit. Except satsuma oranges. Those are grown locally and they’re pretty good. The local strawberries are good too.
My grandmother lived in a house for a while which had a small orchard out back. She couldn’t keep up with the sheer volume at harvest time but we would
feast on fruit whenever we would visit.

Just got some yesterday, and they are perfectl y ripe. So juicy, tender and sweet, maybe even the best I’ve ever had. This time of the year is the best tim e to get them.

I got some free cucumbers. So I made pickles; cucumbers aren’t exactly a versatile vegetable. How about I trade you for some peaches ;)
